Beaming Up the Fun: Our Star Trek Experience at Fan Expo
Wow—what an incredible time we had at Fan Expo this year! Sweet Magic Photo Booth had the awesome opportunity to partner with Paramount+ to bring an out-of-this-world Star Trek experience to fans. And let me tell you, it was a total blast!
We designed a one-of-a-kind brand activation where visitors could step into a GIF photo experience featuring their choice of three iconic Star Trek villains. Whether they wanted to face off against a classic nemesis or embrace the sci-fi chaos, fans were all in! Over the four days—August 22-25—we saw over 1,700 photo sessions, reaching a total audience of 141,816 people and generating a whopping 476,144 impressions. That’s a lot of intergalactic fun!
The Fan Expo Experience
If you’ve never been to Fan Expo, you’re missing out on one of the best pop culture events around. Hosted at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre in downtown Toronto, this convention brings together fans of TV, movies, anime, comics, and gaming. It’s the perfect place to meet celebrities, shop for memorabilia, and, of course, go all out with cosplay!
One of the coolest parts? While we were capturing all the epic Star Trek moments, we also managed to snap a few photos with some Star Wars cosplayers—including R2-D2! It’s always fun to see a little crossover between two of the biggest sci-fi franchises.
A Digital Keepsake for the Fans
For this activation, we wanted to make sure fans had something fun and shareable to take home. Our photo booth experience created digital animated GIFs, which guests could instantly have texted to their phones. This way, they could show off their Star Trek villain showdown on social media, keeping the Fan Expo energy alive long after the event ended.
